Ewelme Cricket Club
Ewelme Cricket Club was established in 1933 and plays Sunday Village Cricket against teams from nearby villages. The club’s aim is to promote and maintain the tradition of Village Cricket in Ewelme and we pride ourselves by playing in the true spirit of the game. We are very fortunate to have one of the nicest locations and best pitches to play cricket in this part of the Chilterns and our opponents always enjoy playing here. The cricket ground has a raised bank behind the bowlers arm which makes for perfect spectating on a Sunday afternoon and there is a children’s playground for the little ones.
We play around 20 fixtures a season, with more than half of those at home from May through to September. We are a very social club and always on the lookout for more players, even if you can only play a few games a year – we encourage you to join us. Come and see us for a home game or contact the captain.
We start and end each season with a Village Double Wicket competition pitching teams of two against each other in a knockout format. The aim is to encourage non players to have a go and we now have a number of Father and son or daughter teams as regulars challenging for the trophy. If you live in the village and have an interest in cricket you should not miss out on these festive days.
